When it comes to weddings, the team at Roberto Farren Photography is always up for seeing new places. While many of our events are in and around Boston, it’s always exciting to venture outside our usual stomping grounds and explore new corners of the world. This was definitely the case for Lou and Becca’s recent wedding celebration in Rhode Island. While we’ve been to a few different parts of Rhode Island, including Providence, Block Island, and Newport, neither Roberto nor I had ever been to Colt State Park in Bristol, RI.

We arrived well in advance of the ceremony, and Roberto set off immediately to capture some of the natural beauty of the outdoor venue. Becca and Lou had chosen the lovely outdoor “Chapel-By-The-Sea” for their ceremony, and the mid-May weather was sunny and mild. Colt State Park is a 464 acre park and nature reserve with a variety of landscapes. You’ve got Narragansett Bay to the west, with stone walls, piers and green lawns leading up to the waterfront. In addition, there are manicured gardens, picnic areas, fruit trees and playing fields.  It’s full of natural beauty, and Roberto snapped away while we waited for the couple’s family to arrive. By a stroke of wedding day luck, guests were greeted with the arrival of a famous Del’s Frozen Lemonade Truck, and they were happy to enjoy the refreshing treats until Becca and Lou joined them.

Becca and Lou’s ceremony was celebrated in front of their immediate family. Becca looked lovely in a simple cream dress, and Lou looked dapper in his suit. After the ceremony, we were able to get through all of the family portraits in Becca and Lou’s shot list, and then we had over an hour with the newlyweds for wedding photos at Colt State Park.

It is great to have this much time with a couple, as it allows them to have portraits in a number of locations. We took advantage of the beautiful day and variety of landscapes around the Park, and Roberto was able to get some great wedding photos for Becca and Lou. There are loads to choose from, but I think my favorites are the ones taken on the pier in Narragansett Bay.

After we finished up, we headed over to Via Roma for the wedding reception. Located in the Federal Hill neighborhood in Providence which is known for its Italian American community, Via Roma was a great venue that came up trumps in providing a delicious Italian buffet.

After tucking into a delicious meal, the celebration turned to the dance floor. Roberto was able to steal Becca and Lou outside for one last set of wedding photos. We took advantage of the twinkle lights at a nearby neighborhood cafe before saying congrats and goodnight to Becca and Lou. Hope you had a great honeymoon cycling through Maine!

BOSTON ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Boston Engagement Photography | Colleen and Emmet

Words: Erin Farren | Photos: Roberto Farren

This winter, Colleen and Emmet got in touch with Roberto about an engagement photography session in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. Officially based in Ireland, Colleen and Emmet were spending a short part of their engagement separated by the Atlantic as Colleen did a clinical rotation in a Boston hospital as part of her medical training. Emmet, still based in Ireland, flew over to see her as often as possible, and it was during one of these visits that we caught up with the couple for their engagement photos.

The couple looked lovely, wearing great colors that popped against the red brick buildings in the Back Bay.  We wandered around with them through the brisk evening, snapping away as we passed through the historic neighborhood with its unique architecture. Roberto had a few places in mind, but we also stumbled upon some great scenes on the way, including a tarnished green bay window and a stretch of stone wall where their shadows fell perfectly.

As we got close to finishing up, Roberto had one more shot in mind, but we needed the sun to go down. We ducked into Lolita’s for a quick drink to warm up while we waited. It was great to have a chat with Colleen and Emmet and hear about how they met and their plans for their future. We also had fun swapping stories of the crazy distances we were willing to travel for love, as Roberto and I also had the Atlantic between us when we first started dating.

Soon after sunset, we headed back outside for one more set of photos. The Commonwealth Avenue Mall is the strip of green that serves as a median between the east and westbound stretches of Comm Ave. Part of Boston’s “Emerald Necklace“, the Mall links the Back Bay Fens and the Public Gardens. Dotted with historic statues and impressive elm trees, the sun-dappled promenade is a favorite for runners and dog walkers alike. In the evenings, twinkle lights sparkle in the trees, and this is where we headed with Colleen and Emmet. Roberto set up some longer exposures and I put my biceps to work with the video light, and we captured the wonderful wintry scene.

Top Cambridge Wedding Venues – From A to Zebras

Hi, it’s Erin here again!  For today’s continuation of the top wedding venues in the Boston area, we’re hopping on the Red Line and heading over the Charles River to Cambridge for three of my faves:

  1. Dante Restaurant – Cambridge, MA | www.restaurantdante.com | A great venue in Cambridge is just over the Longfellow Bridge from Boston.  Part of the Royal Sonesta Hotel, Dante provides great food and a versatile event space.  Chef Dante de Magistris provides delicious, fresh Italian cuisine and some tasty looking cocktails. In addition, the space is awesome. If you’re into a set up where guests can flow from one space to another, including outdoor patios, swanky bar area, comfy lounges, and dining rooms, Dante is definitely worth putting on your list. And the location can’t be beat! You’ve got amazing views of the Charles River and Boston Skyline, which makes for some awesome wedding photos, with canals and manicured gardens just a short walk away at the Charles River Reservation and Lechmere Canal. Check out Mike and Denise’s recent wedding at Dante for more info.
BOSTON WEDDING VENUES | DANTE
  1. Museum of Science – Cambridge, MA | www.mos.org | Not only is this one of the coolest museums in the area, but it also ranks up there as one of the most unique wedding venues in Cambridge. Originally from New Hampshire, this was always the most exciting school field trip of the year for me when I was growing up.  Packed with dinosaurs, a massive Rube Goldberg machine, and an amazing interactive electricity exhibit, you’ve definitely got plenty of interesting photo opportunities at the ready if you decide to hold your wedding reception in one of the areas inside the museum (options include the museum’s Blue Wing, Riverview Café, or the entire Museum). However if you don’t want to spend your whole wedding day geeking out (which is fair…) the Museum of Science has a number of rooms that might be just what you’re looking for.  With some amazing views looking back into Boston with the Charles River spreading out beneath you, the Skyline room and d’Arbeloff Suite are a great option. Another option is the Washburn Pavillion on the back lawn of the Museum, which is a beautiful marquee tent surrounded by landscaped gardens on three sides and the Charles River on the fourth. The Museum of Science is definitely worth a look as your wedding site, whether or not your theme involves Triceratops. Check out Katie and Ryan’s recent wedding reception at the Museum of Science for a better look at the d’Arbeloff Suite and balcony!

  1. Upstairs on the Square – Cambridge, MA | www.upstairsonthesquare.com | I literally cannot say enough about Upstairs on the Square. Between the location, the flexibility of the rooms, the food, and the team, it is definitely one of my top venues in Boston or Cambridge for weddings. For the location, you’re smack in Harvard Square. Walk 2 minutes in any direction, and you can be in Harvard Yard, at John Weeks Bridge, on the banks of Charles River, or in John F. Kennedy Park. That is, if you want to leave at all – Upstairs on the Square has some of the coolest, most unique décor of any venue I’ve seen. The jade colored, high-ceilings of the Monday Club Bar adjoin the aptly named Zebra Room, done up in pink, gold and zebra, and overlooking the twinkle lights and buskers of Winthrop Square. Upstairs, you’ve got the Soirée Dining Room and Jewel Box Bar, best for seated dinners, and you are going to need to sit down for these dinners, because the food at Upstairs is amazing. Fresh, seasonal ingredients are turned artfully into amazing meals that taste like they’ve been made to order just for you. Their food is second only to their team, who are some of the best in the business.  Every member of their staff is cordial, welcoming, and helpful, and it’s no wonder that they win awards left, right and center for their hospitality. Everyone has different priorities when they’re planning their wedding, but if you’re looking for a city-based venue with delicious food, in a unique setting, with super hospitality, Upstairs on the Square has to be on top of your list. Check out Caitlin and Aaron’s recent wedding reception at Upstairs for a better look!

Boston Wedding venues | Location, location, location – Some great choices for your day (Part 1)

Hi! It’s Wife here… I’m stepping outside of my usual role as gear-sherpa and best-man-finder to help out Roberto with some blogging while he is shooting his way through a sweltering wedding season.

Over the past 2 years, I’ve tagged along all over New England as Roberto photographed weddings, engagements, and even the occasional proposal.  We’ve been lucky enough to photograph in some spectacular locations and venues, in beautiful churches, breathtaking outdoor sites, and gorgeous hotels and restaurants.  For the first in a series of posts, we thought that we’d go through some of our favorite venues wedding ceremonies and receptions, starting in Boston:

1. The Beehive – Boston | www.beehiveboston.com/ | What an awesome venue… definitely not your traditional place to hold a wedding reception, but if you and your partner want a more chilled out vibe, then it’s definitely worth a look.  The Beehive has a few different areas, giving your guests the option of sitting at the quieter upstairs bar, hitting the dance floor downstairs, grabbing a drink at the downstairs bar, or taking a break for some fresh air on the outdoor patio.  The décor is very unique, lots of exposed brick and heavy draperies, so you wouldn’t need lots of your own decorations.  The food was great, and even though we didn’t partake since we were on the clock, the cocktails looked pretty amazing as well.  Check out Holly and Matt’s recent wedding reception held at The Beehive, photographed by RFP.

2. Nine Zero Hotel – Boston | www.ninezero.com/ | The Nine Zero isn’t your traditional hotel.  The space is really nicely laid out and the décor is amazing, offering some great opportunities for unique wedding photos.  Amazing views paired with a great location mean that you can easily work some of the Boston skyline into your photos, and if you’re doing a First Look session, you’ve got the option of running across the street and into Boston Common or next door to their .  At night, you can also run next door for a quick shot underneath Boston’s iconic Beantown Pub sign. The three versatile, adjacent event rooms mean that you can keep your guests moving for different parts of your wedding celebration (cocktails, ceremony, seated dinner, dancing, etc) and the amazingly helpful event planning staff keeps everything running smoothly, leaving you to get on with the partying.  Check out Emily and Carlos’ recent wedding held at the Nine Zero.

BOSTON WEDDING VENUES NUMBER ONE
BOSTON WEDDING VENUES | HOTEL NINE ZERO

3. Liberty Hotel – Boston | www.libertyhotel.com | Talk about your stunning venue!  The Liberty Hotel, formerly the Charles Street Jail, was completed in 1851, and during its time as a prison, it housed a number of notable inmates, like Malcolm X, World War II German POWs, and a number of Boston suffragettes.  The prison closed in the 1990’s, and reopened in 2007 as a stunning luxury hotel.  Maintaining some of the architectural features of the original jail, the Liberty Hotel’s impressive rotunda still contains original brick and iron work (including lots of barred cell doors) and massive windows looking out towards the Charles River.  The multiple bars and restaurants (The ClinkAlibi, Scampo, Liberty Bar, The Yard and Catwalk) and numerous event rooms give you tons of flexibility for your wedding, and the pairing of the centuries-old architecture with more modern fittings and décor make for some amazing photos of your big day.   Check out Katie and Ryan’s Boston wedding to see more of the amazing architecture at the Liberty!

HARVARD MEMORIAL CHURCH WEDDING | CAITLIN AND AARON | PART I

Guest Blogger: Photography Assistant & Wife, Erin Farren

My role as an assistant for Roberto Farren Photography is varied, and in addition to the cardio workout and strength training I’m sure to get, I absolutely love being able to go along to weddings throughout Boston, Cambridge and other parts of New England. Caitlin and Aaron’s recent wedding in Harvard Square was a particularly exciting event.

HARVARD MEMORIAL CHURCH WEDDING
HARVARD WEDDING PHOTOS | CAITLIN AND AARON

Caitlin and Aaron were married this spring in Cambridge, MA, and when Roberto started filling me in on the details that the couple had planned, I have to admit that I was already getting pumped.  Harvard Yard for portraits?  Upstairs on the Square for the Reception?  And the bride in a Pink Vera Wang wedding gown? Yes, yes and YES.

HARVARD MEMORIAL CHURCH WEDDING
HARVARD WEDDING PHOTOS | CAITLIN AND AARON

First things first, the couple were getting ready at the Memorial Church in Harvard Yard.  The Harvard University Memorial Church is the gorgeous church at the center of Harvard Yard, originally dedicated in 1932 to the memory of those that passed away in service during World War I, and has long been regarded as the symbolic center of Harvard University’s spiritual life.  Caitlin was getting ready here, and as she put the finishing touches on her hair and make up, Roberto and I finally had the chance to see the wedding gown.  It. Was. Gorgeous.  The color was not your normal pink, but more of a dusty, blushy rose color that perfectly set off Caitlin’s strawberry blond hair.  The fabric fell in amazing folds that rippled with every breeze or movement.  It was lovely, and against the stately furnishings of the Pusey Room in the Memorial Church, it looked stunning.

HARVARD MEMORIAL CHURCH WEDDING
HARVARD WEDDING PHOTOS | CAITLIN AND AARON

Aaron was next up, and he looked just as dapper in a tan seersucker suit and blue tie.  The coloring was complementary without being too matchy-matchy, and Aaron looked cool, comfortable, and ready for t day.  We took him through the beautifully lit church for some portraits before receiving word that Caitlin was ready… It was go time.

HARVARD MEMORIAL CHURCH WEDDING
HARVARD WEDDING PHOTOS | CAITLIN AND AARON

Caitlin and Aaron decided to have a first look before their ceremony, which was is always (in my opinion) an awesome idea.  Both of them are alumni of Harvard University, and the campus played a large role in their love story, so it allowed Roberto and I to take them around Harvard Square for over an hour before the ceremony.  It had rained constantly for the 3 days leading up to their wedding, but just a short while beforehand, the skies cleared, the humidity dropped, and we had a gorgeous day on our hands.

HARVARD MEMORIAL CHURCH WEDDING PHOTOS
HARVARD WEDDING PHOTOS | CAITLIN AND AARON

The first look took place on the stone steps of the Memorial Church.  I took Aaron outside to wait for his bride, and when she turned him around, he was speechless.  Roberto snapped away as they shared a quick moment together, and then we were off to the John Weeks Bridge.  This pedestrian bridge links some of Harvard’s many campuses and residences, and Roberto has actually captured this famous Cambridge and Harvard landmark as part of his landscape portfolio.

HARVARD MEMORIAL CHURCH WEDDING PHOTOS

Also, as a member of the crew team while at Harvard, Caitlin spent a lot of time at the nearby Weld Boathouse.

HARVARD MEMORIAL CHURCH WEDDING PHOTOS

Finally, and most importantly, this bridge is significant for the couple because it happens to be where Aaron proposed to Caitlin.  It was wonderful to be able to capture some portraits of the couple here, and even though we had quite the group of spectators at this point, Roberto got plenty of great shots before it was time to head back to Harvard Yard for the ceremony.

MISTRAL WEDDING BOSTON | SARA AND CHRIS | PART II

Thanks for stopping by to check out part two of Sara and Chris’ Back Bay wedding at Boston’s elegant Mistral restaurant. If you haven’t seen part one, click here for the first installment. I finished last time with a shot from the start of their wedding day shoot together and that is right where I’m going to pick up again.

MISTRAL WEDDING BOSTON PHOTOS
SARA AND CHRIS | MISTRAL WEDDING BOSTON

The area directly surrounding Mistral has some great, picturesque locations for portraits, and with the threat of rain in the air it was nice to be close to the restaurant should the skies decide to open up. We started right outside Mistral using the side entrance to the Salon as our first backdrop. The manicured front garden combined with the intricate brickwork of the building create some wonderful textures and patterns that gave us the chance to get Sara and Chris some really unique images from their day.

MISTRAL WEDDING BOSTON PHOTOS
SARA AND CHRIS | MISTRAL WEDDING BOSTON

The scene and setting also lent itself very well to a nice mixture of color and black and white images. I always try to give a good selection of black and white images from the day and these locations gave us the chance to get the best of both mediums.

MISTRAL WEDDING BOSTON PHOTOS
SARA AND CHRIS | MISTRAL WEDDING BOSTON

Once we had some great shots at the front of Mistral, I wanted to take Sara and Chris around the back of the building as I had scouted some great locations there before the wedding. There were some wonderful big wooden doors that I knew would work great as a backdrop and the light coming through was too good to miss. As a gentle breeze was channeled down between the buildings, it also gave us the opportunity to show off Sara’s amazing veil!

With a few drops of rain starting to fall, we headed back to the front of Mistral and quickly worked through the formal portraits with family members.  We even had time for a quick few more shots of Sara and Chris together.

Onto the party! When you are having a wedding at a location like Mistral you’ll want to give yourself plenty of time to really enjoy the meal! The food there is out of this world and I would highly recommend a trip there should you be looking for somewhere to treat yourselves one night. Sara and Chris wanted to have great food and great cocktails and Mistral delivered on both counts! Again I also want to thank Sam Liang of Ze Liang Photography for his help and second shooting this day with me.

The party went well into the evening and I left Sara and Chris to carry on into the night, but not before I had the chance to steal them away for a few last nighttime shots together outside.

BOSTON ESPLANADE ENGAGEMENT SESSION | VANESSA AND FERNANDO

We had arranged this engagement session to take place on a Saturday evening, but the weather that day did not want to play. It was pouring with rain in the morning, and the forecast was calling for more of the same.  We made the call to change the shoot to Monday evening instead and were rewarded with one of the nicest evenings we could hope for down by the Charles River.

BOSTON ESPLANADE ENGAGEMENT SESSION | VANESSA AND FERNANDO

I have shot engagement sessions and lifestyle shoots on the Charles before, but this time we really wanted to explore all that this part of Boston had to offer. Starting with Fernando and Vanessa around an hour before sunset meant that we were going to get the best light of the day for their photographs. The hour before and after sunset or sunrise gives a beautiful light, and while I will rise at 4:00AM to shoot landscapes, expecting couples to get up at that time for an engagement session might be a bit much.

I’m capturing Vanessa and Fernando’s Boston wedding in August this year and this was a great chance to get them both in front if the camera and spend some time with them. The Esplanade is a really great place for engagement photos in Boston, with the landscaped parks and Charles River providing a great backdrop, and there are lots of really interesting places within a short walk.

I knew that I wanted to get them some shots over the bridges that cross the water and also incorporate some with the intricate masonry that lines the side of the still water pools that can be found along Boston’s esplanade. With the evening sunshine coming in and lighting them, we couldn’t have asked for better conditions.

After we shot there, we wanted to get some other images with the Longfellow Bridge in the background, as well as some of the sailboats that are a trademark of that part of town. The little docks that line the back of the Charles River gave us another great location for Fernando and Vanessa.

BOSTON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY | MIKE AND DENISE | DANTE

I met with Mike and Denise back in the summer of 2010 to talk about the possibility of photographing their wedding this spring at Dante Restaurant in Cambridge. Sitting down and talking with them over lunch, I knew this was going to be a fun, family-filled wedding, and that they were both going to be great fun to work with.

BOSTON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY | MIKE AND DENISE

Their big day seemed to come around quicker than ever and we had a sunny, cool spring day by the Charles River. Denise is a librarian at my local library and we had shot their engagement shoot at the Boston Public Library, which is the perfect place for a Boston engagement session.  It was great to see her love of books translated into their wedding day as well.  She made all of the flowers and decorations for the day, including her bouquet and the groom’s boutonnière, from old book pages. Putting her origami skills to the test, she created absolutely beautiful flowers.

On their big day, Mike and Denise were both getting ready at the Royal Sonesta and in neighboring rooms. This was a great set up, as it allowed me to move between the two very easily to get their preparation photos. Holding a wedding at Dante was a great choice. The venue is part of the Royal Sonesta complex so you don’t lose any travel time in your day and the view of Boston across the river is a stunning backdrop for any New England wedding photo. Also check out Denise’s stunning wedding dress, which had the lace from her grandmother’s wedding dress worked into the design, such a unique feature.

After they were both ready for the day, we did their first look at the back of the Royal Sonesta in a nice area of light and that let us capture those emotions without too many distractions in the background. Doing a first look is a great way to not only share a special moment with your soon to be spouse, but it also allows you to get your formal photos and the photos of the two of you together before the ceremony, freeing up your day to be with your guests once they all arrive for the day.

We headed down to the waterfront to capture Mike and Denise’s wedding portraits and to add some different locations and view point, and although it was a little bit windier and cooler, it was well worth the visit. We then headed back to the location Mike and Denise’s first look for some of the family photos as well.

The wedding ceremony was held on the open patio area just at the back of Dante and with the sun shining it was a wonderful spot. Holding your wedding on the bank of the Charles River with the Boston cityscape as your backdrop makes for an unforgettable location. The ceremony, and the rest of the day, was packed full of smiling and laughter, it truly was a very happy day all round.

After the ceremony, the celebrations moved back inside and during cocktail hour, they showed a video that featured Mike and Denise’s closest friends and family talking about their experiences of love and passing on some words of wisdom to the newly married couple to take forward into their life together. It was as funny as it was moving, and a really great touch to their day.

With the light of the day slipping slowly away, I stole Mike and Denise away from the festivities for another quick photo shoot down by the Charles. The party went on into the early hours of the following day and I’m sure that many moves were thrown down on the dance floor, many stories were shared and many memories were made long after I had left for the day, but at the very end of my night with Mike and Denise I stole them away for one final shot in front of the Royal Sonesta. It was something I had wanted to try for a little while, and having spoken with Mike and Denise before the wedding, they were both interested in seeing if we could get the shot. And so, the last of their Boston wedding photos I leave you with is the newly married couple with the light trails of the passing cars wrapping around them in the night.

Cassandra and Sean were married last fall in the beautiful Greek Orthodox Cathedral on Huntington Street in Boston. This is really a beautiful location to get married in Boston, and the autumn day couldn’t have been any more perfect.

I started their Boston wedding photography coverage at the Westin in Copley Square, only a short distance from the Cathedral. Cassandra and Sean were heading back to the Westin after the ceremony for the reception, and we were also aiming for photos on the steps of the Boston Public Library, which is nearby.

I first shot with Cassandra and her family, and got some great shots of her and her bridesmaids getting ready, in addition to some great views across Boston and down into Copley Square below. It’s always nice to get a great cityscape into your Boston wedding photos and with the view from the Westin, that was easy to do. It also gave me the opportunity to capture a number of great images of her stunning wedding dress and shoes.

Sean was getting ready with the rest of the guys downstairs, so after I had a good selection of photos with the ladies, it was time to head to the groomsmen. The guys were relaxed and getting ready and it was a nice chance to capture some images of them together before they headed out, as well as capturing some portraits of Sean by himself.

I then headed back upstairs to catch up with Cassandra again and get some more portraits with her before she finally left the Westin for the Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She looked amazing, and it was fun to grab a few last shots with her and her family and bridesmaids before they left.

The Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Boston is a wonderful location for a wedding ceremony and one that they had planned over a year beforehand. Cassandra and her family are of Greek descent, and I think everyone was excited to be holding the wedding in such a beautiful location in Boston.  From a photographic perspective, the location allows many different angles and it’s such an interesting space inside. We captured all the family photos together at the altar after the mass, which gave a lovely backdrop.

After the ceremony we headed straight back to Copley Square for formal photos with the bridal party. Copley Square and the steps in front of the Boston Public Library make for the quintessential Boston Wedding photographs for your big day. The location is a landmark of the city and the backdrop is perfect in every way.

Although we had to dodge the rain a couple of times, we managed to get all of the images captured before the really heavy rain fell later.

Once the festivities got going for the night, they weren’t showing any times of stopping and I’m sure that Cassandra and Sean celebrated their Boston wedding day with their friends and family well into the early hours.

Alex and Patrick are based in Washington, DC but as they planned their wedding, they decided that they wanted to get married in their hometown of Boston.  What better place to do it than in the location with the best view of the city: The UMass Club. The near 360-degree view from the ninth floor is stunning and as they were getting ready at the Langham Hotel just across the road, it was only a short way to travel for the day.

I had met with Alex and Patrick over a year before their wedding when they were in Boston for the Christmas holidays and were beginning their arrangements for the big day. As I am fairly new to Boston, I have yet to shoot at many of the wedding venues that Boston has to offer, but I knew that this one would be special and unique. With views from the very top of the UMass Club reaching out across the whole city, this was an amazing location for a Boston wedding celebration.

The Langham Hotel across the road was also a great spot to start photographing the day. Alex and Patrick were both getting ready here, and we planned their “first look” in the Bond Restaurant.  I always recommend a “first look” for my couples if they are up for it… it allows them to share a special moment together before the whirlwind of their ceremony and reception begin, and it also allows me to get some great photos of just the two of them.

After Alex and her bridesmaids finished getting ready in their room, we headed to the Bond Bar to capture the first time Alex and Patrick would see each other that day. The Bond provides a wonderfully luxurious backdrop with glittering chandeliers and unique furnishings and decor.  Once we had captured some images there, we headed to the lobby of the hotel which provides a completely different but equally beautiful space with some beauitful natural light to work with.  We captured some more great shots of them together here, then headed outside.

Just across the road from the Langham Hotel is the Normal B Leventhal Park, which is where we headed to next to capture photos of Alex and Patrick together and with the rest of their wedding party. The park is perfect on a Saturday, as this is a very quiet part of town on weekends, and its landscaping offers a number of features that add a good variety for Boston wedding photos. After getting some great images there, we headed to the UMass Club, which is just across the road from the Langham Hotel.

Alex and Patrick were married on the ninth floor over looking the city of Boston on what was a perfect fall day last September. The space in the UMass club is very flexible, and great for a wedding.  Alex and Patrick had their ceremony in one space, the cocktail hour in another area (with different view of the city) and had an additional room at their disposal to get some more family group photos.

The party went on into the night, and by the time I left there were some serious moves being thrown down on the dance floor.  They finished the night back at the Bond bar at the Langham Hotel. Alex and Patrick, it was a real pleasure to be a part of your day and thank you for allowing me to capture it for you both. I wish you all the very best for the future together.
